Energy for Tomorrow posts record participation
Local businesses lead the way in buying renewable energy

MILWAUKEE - We Energies today announced record participation in its Energy for Tomorrow program during 2005. The company recorded an increase of 20 percent in renewable energy sales over 2004 levels, to more than 50 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy. 

We Energies provides business and residential customers the option of purchasing electricity from renewable energy resources such as wind, hydro and biomass through its Energy for Tomorrow program. 

"Several local companies and organizations have led the way through their purchase of renewable energy to help power their businesses," said Richard O'Conor, manager of We Energies renewable energy projects. "Miller Brewing Company, GE Healthcare, Quad/Graphics, FedEx Kinko's and Milwaukee School of Engineering have set a standard for participation that other businesses, organizations and individuals throughout our service territory have followed," O'Conor said. 

We Energies introduced its Energy for Tomorrow program in 1996. Since then, more than 12,000 customers have partnered with the company by purchasing a portion of their energy through renewable resources. In addition, Energy for Tomorrow is nationally recognized as one of the premier renewable energy programs in the U.S.
